Little Lantern Bookmark
15 minutes
You will need
- Card or thick paper
- Yellow tissue paper
- Glue stick
- Ribbon
Steps
- Cut a tall lantern shape from card, about the height of your hand.
- Cut a small window in the middle and glue tissue paper behind it.
- Punch a hole at the top and thread the ribbon through.
- Write the title of the book you are reading on the back.

Story Stick Puppets
25 minutes
You will need
- Paper
- Crayons
- Lolly sticks
- Tape
Steps
- Draw the three characters you liked most and color them in.
- Cut them out and tape each one to a stick.
- Fold a shoebox open to make your stage.
- Retell the story to a grown up, using your own voice for each character.

Paper Boat Page Sea
20 minutes
You will need
- Blue paper
- Old newspaper
- Scissors
- Glue
Steps
- Fold a small paper boat from newspaper.
- Cut wavy strips from the blue paper for the sea.
- Glue the waves in layers and tuck the boat between them.
- Add a tiny lighthouse with a paper flame on top.

Reading Den Sign
10 minutes
You will need
- Card
- Markers
- Stickers
- String
Steps
- Write 'Quiet please, story in progress' on the card.
- Decorate the border with stars and stickers.
- Tie string to both corners.
- Hang it wherever you read the most.

Dragon Book Guardian
30 minutes
You will need
- Egg carton
- Green paint
- Googly eyes
- Felt scraps
Steps
- Cut a strip of four egg cups for the body.
- Paint it and let it dry while you read a chapter.
- Glue on eyes and a felt tail and wings.
- Sit it on the shelf to guard your favourite books.

Word Jar

You will need
- A clean jar
- Paper slips
- A pen
Steps
- Every time you meet a beautiful new word, write it on a slip.
- Fold it and drop it into the jar.
- On Sundays, pull out three words.
- Make one silly sentence using all three.
